Today I’m sharing a checklist for your website design, which is easily one of the most important tool for your marketing and the topic I receive questions about the most. A one-page website that includes stock photos and outdated info is not going to cut it anymore, especially not if you’re looking to grow your client numbers. The truth is, when clients choose their practitioner, whether you come recommended by a friend or family or not, they’ll take their information from multiple places in order to decide to book (or not). From your website, your social media accounts and Google reviews, they are looking to find social proof before booking treatment with you.
Studies in user behaviour have shown that visual appeal and website navigation have the biggest influence on people’s first impressions of your brand. With 75% of people making judgments about a brand’s credibility based on their website. So it’s absolutely worth updating your website to make sure it’s effective in helping clients navigate, understand your offering and book treatment.
Today’s newsletter edition is building on my first Website Checklist about website branding and integrated email marketing for practice growth, today I’m sharing my tips on the specific pages you’ll need to include on your website for it to be effective in showcasing your work. I just like to give you practical advice!
And not to worry when this all feels overwhelming or simply not like something you want to spend your time on. If you’re in need a helping hand, whether you want help revising your existing website, or are looking to create a new one from scratch, just reply to this email and I’m happy to help in any way I can! I’m currently offering free intro calls, paid consultation for website reviews and we just launched our brand new beautifully designed, easy to use website templates that help you build the perfect website that reflects your offering. You can find all the information here.
So let’s look at the components of an effective website, specifically for you as holistic healthcare professionals. The pages you’ll need include:
Home page
As the first point of contact with your website visitor, you’ve got thirty, maybe 60 seconds, to impress your website visitors - so you want to make sure your message comes across on your homepage, even better if you can include this in the top part ‘above the fold’. Do you have a brief overview of what it is that you offer, and a clear one-liner to specify who it is for? Don’t tell your story from your perspective, but write from your clients’ point of view. What can you help them with? What might they be struggling with? What is the solution you have to offer them?
Your homepage is also the first place to include your own branding to make you stand out, including professional photos (not basic stock images). In the top bar and throughout your homepage include easy navigation to the other website pages, both through buttons with clear Calls To Action and the header menu. Make sure to add client testimonials here to build social proof and link to your social media so that clients can easily check that out as well.
About
Your About page is where you share your origin story, your values and your mission. This is also where you include a clear professional bio, including qualifications, registrations with regulatory bodies, and again professional photos of yourself. If you have team members, introduce them here with clear role descriptions. Include the different treatment types you offer, pricing and payment details. This is where you want to communicate clearly on costs and include any special offers like package discounts or free initial consultations. Also, add any information on processes here - how to book, how to pay, where to find you, follow-up processes, etc. Do you have a cancellation policy or do you charge no-show fees? Sharing this information lowers the barrier for clients to reach out, because you help them feel confident in making an informed decision when booking.
Treatments
If you offer multiple treatment types, separate them out and describe each in detail. What’s the background story of these treatments, how do they support people and what can clients expect during treatment, is there any preparation or aftercare they should be aware of? Also include how many treatments they can expect to need to notice any results, or a short explanation to say you’ll decide on this together at the initial appointment. If you have any images of your treatment room, great!, include them here.
Blog/News
A page with articles that cover both insights into the treatments you offer and any news from your practice, really helps showcase your expertise in your work and helps clients feel up to date on any practice details. Also, a blog post is a great way to build your SEO (Search Engine Optimisation) so people find your website when they search on Google. A great starting point for a blog is to answer any frequently asked questions you get from clients in clinic. A blog can be a good spot to cover these topics and you can refer back to regulatory bodies for the basic treatment information too. And a bonus tip: if you have a blog, it’s definitely worth sending out these articles in a newsletter for email marketing as well!
Contact Me
This is where you include the crucial information on how to book treatment with you. Add a contact form or contact details and explain what people can expect when contacting you. Plus, clearly display your clinic’s address and add a location map, ideally embedded Google Map for easy navigation. If needed, directions or local public transport info are useful too.
Header & Footer
Your website header and footer are the key for easy navigation. So make sure there’s a menu option in your header, a clear brand name (this can be your name or the name of your practice), and a Book Now button that leads to a booking page or your Contact page. In the footer, add links to your social media and the option to subscribe to your newsletter if you have one. This is also where you should include your privacy policy, cancellation policy, and medical disclaimer.
That’s it, this list gives you a clear overview of the website pages you’ll need to include on your website so that clients can feel confident in booking their treatment with you.
